Whenever you hear about pregnancy its all Ou’s and Ah’s and amazing this and glow that. But, no one really tells you the not so pretty side of pregnancy.
Not only was the first trimester the ultimate struggle (at least for me), it’s the most important development wise for your baby.
It’s SO important to make sure that you are taking care of yourself especially during this changing time in your life. Here’s a few of my tips for getting through those long but beautiful 9 months.
1. Snacks on Deck
What helped me combat my nausea the most was to make sure I had snacks with me at all times.
No really I’m talking snacks on snack on snacks with you at all times.
2. Stay Thirsty
Not sure how much water you need to be drinking? Take your total and weight and divide that in half and that’s how many ounces you should be drinking a day.
To make sure I was meeting my water goal I made sure to keep my water bottle with me at all times.
3. Pop Those Vitamins
Having a quality prenatal vitamin and taking it everyday is SO important.
During my pregnancy I was so blessed to have been employed as an office manager at a chiropractic clinic and I can’t even begin to explain how much I learned from having worked there during my pregnancy.
So yea, definitely do your research and consult with your physician to decide the best fit for you! Sooner rather than later!
4. Bedtime Blues
Getting enough sleep during your pregnancy is so important, but getting comfortable enough to fall asleep and stay asleep is another story.
I probably should have ordered mine as soon as I found out I was pregnant! I would recommend purchasing one early on to avoid waiting for it to come in when you need it right away.
5. Rest, Rest, and more Rest
I wish I was exaggerating but literally you will be exhausted. Even when you sleep you will probably still wake up exhausted…this coupled with limited coffee intake is literally a recipe for disaster, but hey it’s all worth it in the end!
Eating a lot of high energy foods can seriously combat that drowsy tired feeling throughout the day. Some of my favorites were: avocados, sweet potatoes with coconut oil, bananas, beans, and green smoothies.
6. Treat Yo Self
No seriously treat your self because once your little one is here…you will literally be on mommy lock down.
So if you’re a woman that loves to get her nails and hair done..get it in. If you love massages, book yourself a prenatal massage.
I found that massages really helped with the aches and pains that came with growing a little human. If you enjoy shopping go ahead and get some of that in too…try not to go overboard though!
Pretty much anything that you previously enjoyed doing by yourself key word here peacefully, get that shit in NOW because you can kiss those days goodbye at least for a little while after baby makes his or her appearance.
7.Leggings for Days
Which will basically be everyday…trust me on this!
There are even some maternity leggings that have extra support that I would totally recommend investing in as well. I think I got a few pairs from Target and they were relatively inexpensive and totally worth it.
8. Write a Birth Plan
This was another really important piece of information I learned from my chiropractor. A birth plan is essential for the details of how YOU want your birth experience to go.
9. Netflix and Chill
I don’t know about you all but I enjoy a few social outings here and there and as you may have already guessed those typically involve a nice cocktail or mimosa.
10. Pregnancy Shoot
Now-a-days it seems like people set up photo shoots for literally everything, so maternity shoots are no different.
They seriously grow up so fast, so make sure you treasure every moment especially the time leading up to the big day that they enter the world.
